Lindsay Lohan attempt to get sober and relaunch her career is in jeopardy after she got into an altercation with a Betty Ford Center staffer that has now escalated into a police investigation and could result in Lohan’s return to jail for six months.
The latest twist comes in a case that began with a routine arrest for drunk driving in 2007 and has grown to become career threatening for the once soaring screen star.
Sadly, Lohan was scheduled to stay at the center until Jan 3. and could have been placed on informal probation, free to travel anywhere, if she had stayed out of trouble until the Feb. 25 hearing.
That opportunity now seems in jeopardy, and Lohan could face as much as six months in jail if the case goes against her.
The Palm Desert Police Department has confirmed that it is investigating an altercation that occurred after Lindsay and her roommates reportedly went to a bar and returned to their halfway house.
Lohan was reported confronted by the female staffer and some pushing, shoving and likely some pretty foul language seems to have happened.
The police received a call at 1:03 AM on reporting a “hand-to-hand battery” assault, according to gossip Web site TMZ.
Lohan also plans to file a formal complaint against the woman, and is insisting the staffer instigated the incident, the gossip site added.
The staffer allegedly berated Lindsay and grabbed her and pushed her before Lohan pushed back. Isn’t that called tough love?
The results of the investigation will be presented to prosecutors, who will determine whether the incident merits further action, Valenzuela told the Associated Press.
Lohan is making her fifth trip to rehab and her second in a year, the AP reported.
