Kanye West has a flair for the dramatic which he uses effectively to promote his music. His latest video for his single “Monster” is no exception. It’s leaked online in a rough cut, today, heightening interest in the much anticipated clip.
West gets some help on the song from Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj and Bon Iver.
Although it may seem like West did not intend for the video to be seen, more likely the leak was planned, given the way a sneak peek at its making was leaked as well earlier this month.
West will get a double pop for the video when it’s released in final polished form, possibly incorporating suggestions from fans who watch the rough version.
The song is off West’s album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, which has won critical acclaim, but also, not astonishingly, was leaked online before its official release in November.
It’s the third official single from West’s fifth studio album and was first released as a free download through West’s “GOOD Friday” initiative. It was officially released on iTunes in October.
Minaj’s contribution is a standout on the track.
