Justin Bieber to Vanity Fair: I Want to Be Michael Jackson (video)

Justin Bieber tried to throw fans a curve about his relationship with Disney star Selena Gomez , and says he relies on an “expert at covert operations,” to visit lady friends. But, yo, Justin, you’ve been busted.

The Biebs caused an uproar among his fans when intimate photos leaked yesterday (Jan. 3) showing the teen sensation hanging all over Gomez on a private yacht in St. Lucia, an island getaway in the Caribbean.

Although the two have described themselves as “just friends,” they were more than “just friendly” on the boat.

They were photographed embracing and seemingly kissing. In one photo, Justin clearly seems to have his hand planted firmly on Selena’s bootie.

So far there has been no official update from either camp on the nature of the relationship. The only insight on Bieber’s dating habits comes in an interview in the upcoming issue of Vanity Fair magazine.

To escape his legions of fans to spend time with special female friends (read Selena), Justin says he relies on his personal bodyguard.

“I feel like I’ve become an expert at covert operations,” agrees security head Kenny Hamilton .

One thing is certain, Justin feels he’s not normal, and his mother thinks he is divinely inspired.

“Just the way my brain works. I’m not normal. I think differently — my mind is always racing. I’m just … nuts. But I think the best [musicians] probably are,” he says.

Justin skyrocketed to fame in little over a year, after his mom posted videos of him playing and singing on YouTube.

As such, there is no guarantee he won’t fall just as fast as other here-today-gone-tomorrow teen idols. Except Justin’s mom, Pattie Mallette believes God is on their side.

In fact Mallette claims she’s had “a personal encounter with God.”

Now, she believes that she and Justin have been put on earth to bring “light and inspiration to the world,” the article says.

As for Justin, he’s as amazed as anyone about his sudden fame.

“I didn’t know that any of this was really possible,” he said. “I grew up in a really small town with not a lot of money, and I liked singing, but it was just something that was a hobby.”

Now he says he wants to “grow as an artist, as an entertainer, and basically perfect my craft. I want to be the best that I can be.”

The Biebs cited Michael Jackson and Boyz II Men as musical influences along with rapper Tupac Shakur.

He says Jackson best represents what he has in mind for his own career: “He was so broad, everybody loved him, and that’s what my goal is—to basically make people happy, to inspire them, and to have everyone root for me.”

Judging from the outpouring of rage from his female fans over his Selena hookup, the Bieb may be more than halfway there. But the guys are a different story.

“For younger guys, it’s like [they think] they’re not cool if they come to my concert,” he admitted. “That’ll [change], I think; it’ll happen, maybe when I’m 18.”

Given the outpouring of hate against Selena on Twitter, there were rumors that Justin would pull his account on the social networking site. But he’s not about to lose the connection with his fans.

“Woke up to today’s rumor that i was going to delete my twitter. Nope. never that. Where did that even come from?” he wrote.

“I luv talking to u all here. Thanks to twitter rumors cant run wild. we talk directly. we know what it is. People can say what they want but me and my fans have a bond.”

So how about coming clean on Selena?
