Robert Pattinson Gets Well Wishes From Colin Farrell (video) 1Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson scored a major coup when he was tapped to star in the David Cronenberg film “Cosmopolis,” but it seemed to come at the expense of Irish actor Colin Farrell, who was originally reported to have the part.

But Farrell confirmed in an MTV interview today that Rob’s gain wasn’t his loss.

Farrell said he didn’t end up doing “Cosmopolis” due to timing and scheduling issues “for everyone involved.”

“Myself and David [Cronenberg], we had good conversations between he and I,” Farrell said.

“I would love to work with him at some stage, I really would. I really wanted to do that [film].”

Farrell is currently promoting the upcoming drama “The Way Back,” with Ed Harris and Jim Sturgess.

Set during World War II, It’s about a group of prisoners who escape Russia’s Siberian prison Gulag and walk more than 4,000 miles to freedom.

Although “Cosmopolis” was originally offered to him, Farrell reportedly dropped out of the picture to make “Total Recall.”

Columbia Pictures and parent company Sony. offered Farrell “Total Recall” in November.

Farrell, however, was noncommittal when he was asked recently if he will do the film.

“Script is cool. Script is smart. There’s a good bit of action. It’s clever and it’s well written. And there’s loads of action,” he continued.

“I’d like to [do it], I just don’t know, I’m not sure,” he told the Belfast Telegraph.

British actor Tom Hardy, who appeared in sci-fi film “Inception,” and “Inglourious Basterds” star Michael Fassbender were also said to have been considered for the role.

The film is a remake of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger film. He played a dual role of Douglas Quaid and his revolutionary alter-ego Hauser in original.

The film is slated for release late this year.

“Cosmopolis” will be Pattinson’s first post-“Twilight” movie, following completion of shooting on both parts of Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn,” the last two films in the Twilight series.

The film, an adaptation of the novel by Don DeLillo, is basically “Wall Street, Money Never Sleeps” on steroids. It’s set in a slightly futuristic city where capitalism is a blood sport, complete with assassins.

Pattinson took the role because he is a big fan of Cronenberg’s work and DeLillo’s books. The film also is expected to star Marion Cotillard and Paul Giamatti, two A-List actors.

Rob will play Eric Packer, a multi-millionaire asset manager, and seeming master of the universe, living in New York City.

His limo gets pinned in a colossal New York traffic jam as the world seemingly disintegrates around him. The problem is Packer is facing a major deadline on the biggest economic gamble of his life– that could also cost him his life.

Cronenberg is considered to be a top director, who can take Rob’s acting to the next level.

“It’s a wonderful script,” Farrell said. “I wish him all the luck in the world with it.”
