Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban made a stunning announcement; they are the parents of a baby girl. The revelation comes one day after the actress and country singer spent the evening enjoying the Golden Globes Awards in Los Angeles. What Gives?
It turns out the baby was born Dec. 28 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, where Kidman and Urban have a home, according to gossip site TMZ, which broke the story.
As it turns out, the baby, named Faith, was borne by a surrogate mother, although Kidman and Urban are the biological parents.
That means the surrogate was likely inseminated with both egg and sperm. The pregnancy was apparently kept secret.
Kidman and Urban have another child Sunday Rose, who was born naturally by Kidman.
TMZ reports that the two visited the hospital last week to see the baby and the surrogate, and had taken over an entire floor of the hospital which the could enter from a private elevator.
The baby and mother have since left the hospital.
After the story broke, the couple issued a statement to TMZ:
“Our family is truly blessed, and just so thankful, to have been given the gift of baby Faith Margaret.
“No words can adequately convey the incredible gratitude that we feel for everyone who was so supportive throughout this process, in particular our gestational carrier,” the said.
Talk about modern science. Wonderful news, but a little scary.
