New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez has been fingered as a sex partner by a 17-year-old Connecticut girl, who said Sanchez slept with her even though he knew she was only a teenager. Sanchez is 24 years old, but the hookup is reportedly legal in New York.
Although the story broke last week, the teen, Eliza Kruger, the daughter of wealthy Connecticut hedge fund manager Konrad “Chip” Kruger only came forward today to confirm reports of the relationship.
Eliza reportedly bragged on Facebook about receiving texts from “MARK F–ING SANCHEZ” who she met at NYC nightclub Lavo on New Year’s Eve, according to deadspin, a sports Web site that broke the story.
“You know I’m 17, right?” Eliza recounted in her first conversation with Sanchez.
The quarterback reportedly replied: “Well, we can still talk, but I can’t see you until you’re 18,”
But Eliza countered: “17 is legal in New York.”
After Sanchez gave her tickets to a Jets game against the Buffalo Bills, they went on a date and she ended up spending the night at Sanchez’s sprawling New Jersey mansion.
“Yeah,” she said after being asked if the had romantic relations. “We went back to his place in Jersey after dinner. He lives on a golf course. There was a big storm.”
Eliza also said she made sure to research the legality of dating a minor — 17 being the legal age of consent in New York and 16 in New Jersey, according to the Web site.
Her father is a partner in Five Mile Capital Partners.
Eliza told Deadspin Sanchez last texted her at 2 a.m. on Jan. 24, after the Jets lost to Pittsburgh in the AFC Championship Game.
But she has not seen him since their hookup.
