Miley Cyrus Antics Scare Bejezus Out of Dad Billy Ray Cyrus

Miley Cyrus says she knows she’s going to make mistakes, but for dad Billy Ray Cyrus, much more is going on than simple growing pains for the former Hannah Montana star.

As it turns out, the Disney show that launched Miley to fame and fortune, with her real life dad playing her dad on the series, caused a lot more pain and upheaval in the family than anyone has let on, until now.

Billy Ray talks at length in a GQ magazine interview about the growing estrangement from his daughter and his fears that her life may spin out of control even as her career skyrockets. He even conjures images Michael Jackson, Anna Nicole Smith and friend Kurt Cobain

Does he fear for her life?

“I’m scared for her. She’s got a lot of people around her that’s putting her in a great deal of danger,” he said. “I know she’s 18, but I still feel like as her daddy I’d like to try to help.”

But Billy Ray says he’s been increasingly cut out of her life, and when he does try to interject, he says he’s told its “none of his business.”

“I want to get her sheltered from the storm. Stop the insanity just for a minute. When you go through what she’s been through, it takes a beating on you,” he says.

Indeed, Miley’s career, ever since her infamous pose semi-nude at 15 for Vanity Fair, which Billy participated in, has been marked by a string of controversial episodes, from clothing malfunctions to behavior that was hardly representative of her squeaky clean Disney image.

Now she has to contend with a messy divorce between her father and mother Tish Cyrus. Miley has complained that the family drama is “pushing her buttons.”

Billy also has something to get off his chest.

“I’ve never made a dime off of Miley. You got a lot of people have made percentages off of her. I’m proud to say to this day I’ve never made one commissioned dollar, or dime, off of my daughter.”

As for Hannah Montana, “It destroyed my family. I’ll tell you right now—the damn show destroyed my family,” he says.
