With all the pomp and circumstance fit for a future king, members of the Royal family, dignitaries, a sprinkling of celebrities and tens of thousands of well wishers gathered to celebrate Prince William’s marriage to commoner and future queen Kate Middleton.
William wore a dashing red dress uniform while brother Harry arrived also in full military dress. Queen Elizabeth wore a canary yellow dress.
Prince Charles also filed into the church in full military uniform with Camilla at his side in a cream-colored dress and hat.
Kate Middleton will become Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge when she marries Prince William, Buckingham Palace announced today.
Prince William has also become the Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus.
Prince Harry’s on-again, off-again girlfriend, Chelsy Davy is among the 1,900 guests who will attend the wedding in Westminster Abbey this morning.
After the wedding today, the pair will travel from Westminster Abbey to the Palace in an open-topped carriage despite forecasters saying earlier that there is a risk of rain.
There were earlier reports that the would forgo a carriage and some other traditions, but for the most part, the wedding will equal the last royal wedding between Prince Charles and Lady Diana, mother to William and Harry.
After their wedding ceremony, they will ride in a 1902 State Landau used by Charles and Diana 30 years ago.
Last night, Kate, her sister Pippa and mother Carole waved to the huge crowd which has gathered outside the hotel in Belgravia.
Kate showed no sign of nerves ahead of her marriage today to Prince William, according to London’s Daily Mail.
In a personal message to well-wishers, the couple said they were “incredibly moved” by the affection shown to them since their engagement in the official wedding program.
