Amy Adams, Jason Segel Tackle The Muppets (New Trailer) 2Muppet creator Jim Henson is long gone, but his lovable puppets are angling for a true Hollywood comeback in “The Muppets,” a new movie starring Jason Segel and the fetching Amy Adams.

The movie will feature the whole gang, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and Gonzo in the James Bobin directed picture, produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman.

Segel and Nicholas Stoller have the writing honors. The last teamed up with Bobin for 2008’s “Forgetting Sarah Marshal,” a rom-com that grossed more than $100 million worldwide.

The Muppets were last seen in a big screen adaption in 1999’s “The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland,” starring Mandy Patinkin and Vanessa L. Williams.

It was released almost 10 years after Henson’s death in 1990 and bombed at the box office. It grossed just $11.6 million during its two-month theatrical run, less than half its $26 million budget.

That film was produced by Jim Henson Pictures, the Children’s Television Workshop and Columbia Pictures. Now Disney is trying its hand at the franchise.

In the tailer, Segel and Adams star in a spoof romantic comedy, “Green With Envy.” The Muppets don’t appear until about halfway through the trailer, but make no mistake the movie is all about them.

It’s all a bit of Disney sleight-of-hand marketing. They say there is no second act in Hollywood, but the Muppets may prove to be an exception to the rule

The film hits theaters Nov. 23 around the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Check out the trailer below.
