True Blood Season 4 Peek: Will Eric Bite Sookie? (3 Trailers!) 1“Trueblood” heroine Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) says it all about the fourth season of the hit HBO vampire series. “Oh great, now I have to deal with witches?” And, that’s just one of the plot twists!

HBO has renewed the hit show for a 12-episode run that will premiere on June 26. The season will be loosely based on the fourth novel in Charlaine Harris’s Southern Vampire Mysteries series, “Dead to the World.”

At the end of Season 3, Sookie broke up with with vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), so she’ll become an object of desire.

Thousand year old Viking Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) and werewolf Alcide (Joe Manganiello) could fight it out for her affection.

And, yes, witches will be a key part of the plot line.

Fiona Shaw, who played Aunt Petunia in the Harry Potter films, is joining the show as Marnie, a timid palm reader who is possessed by a powerful witch.

Jessica Tuck, who plays vampire spokesperson Nan Flannigan, will be a series regular. She, Eric and Bill will try to win back the humans.

Also joining the cast, Janina Gavankar (The L Word, The Gates) will play a public school teacher named Luna, who is also a shapeshifter; Alexandra Breckenridge (Life Unexpected, Family Guy) will play a wiccan named Daisy and Vedette Lim will play Naomi, a fierce cage fighter, according to deadline.

Regular cast members will also go through some major changes.

For one, Eric reportedly will start the season with no memory. “One thousand years of resentment for humanity is gone,” Skarsgård said at a recent forum. “So Eric needs help.”

Sookie’s supernatural powers will also be featured.

“She’s been on a bit of an adventure,” Paquin said. “She disappeared into the soft… fuzzy light with Claudine and she comes back. And, she’s different.”

Bill will also renew his epic battle with Queen Sophie Anne (Evan Rachel Wood), which began at the end of Season 3.

For the uninitiated, “True Blood’ is set in Louisiana in the not-too-distant future, when vampires have come out of the dark, thanks to newly invented synthetic blood.

They no longer need human blood to survive, but just can’t seem to kick the habit.

As a result, they live in an uneasy co-existence with the town folk.
