Heather Morris and Naya Rivera sexed it up onstage, capping a racy performance by the Glee cast in Dublin. True to their characters, they kissed as did Darren Criss and Chris Colfer for the first time to screams from the audience.
The scene was particularly charged because Ireland is a heavily Roman Catholic country where homosexuality is frowned on by the church and society in general.
But you wouldn’t have known that during the final night of the Glee live tour at Dublin’s O2 Arena.
Heather and Naya play cheerleaders Brittany and Santana on the show and the two characters have had an on-again, off-again lesbian relationship.
During the show, Heather told the audience she wanted to bring her latest crush Blaine (Criss) up onstage to “make out.”
Blaine pulled back, claiming he was taken, and Brittany was consoled by Santana. The two embraced and kissed on the lips.
Then Kurt (Colfer), who is gay on the show, read Blain a poem about his feelings.
Blaine was obviously moved. He grabbed Kurt and kissed him squarely on the lips, as the crowd roared its amazement.
The skits have been staples of the show during its tour, but the show was the first where the two boys actually kissed.
“Well, the Glee Live 2011 tour has come to an end! There have been some laughs, there have been some tears, there have been some kisses…” Chris Tweeted afterward.
“Glee” will have a different look when season three resumes with a new season in the fall.
Cast member Chord Overstreet, who played transfer student Sam Evans last season, has been dropped as a regular member of the cast.
He may, however, return in a guest starring role when the third season gets under way, according to reports.
But Criss and Harry Shum, Jr., who plays Mike, are being upgraded to regulars.
