Rihanna reveals that humans are part of the animal kingdom (surprise!) and she says she sometimes feels like the hunter and the hunted when it comes to love and sex.
The 23-year-old singer, who has laced much of her recent music with references to sado-masochism and rough sex, says in the latest issue of Cosmopolitan UK that she is open to love — if someone is willing to earn it.
“I’m open to love. But guys should have to earn it. Because the minute they get it, they want something else,” she explains.
“Men are like hunters; they like the chase. So you have to keep ’em guessing. Actually, I’m like that too. I get bored quickly. So if someone can make me laugh, that’s the best,” she added.

Rihanna also acknowledges that her celebrity often gets in the way of her relationships.
“It can definitely be intimidating to guys to date someone in this industry. And it’s really hard to find a guy who doesn’t care about that stuff,” she says.
“Right now, it’s easier just having my career to focus on.”
Rihanna seemed to have a picture book relationship with rapper Chris Brown, and nearly two years after he savagely beat her on the eve of the 2009 Grammys, she’s still working through her emotions about the incident.
The aftermath, for her, has been “a very aggressive and defensive time,” she said.
“That allowed me to start not giving a shit. I walked around with a very fuck-you attitude. I’ve always been good at masking my emotions.
“Anytime I didn’t want to deal with how I felt, I’d put up my guard. But I’ve started not doing that.”
These days, she’s keeping an open mind about guys.
“I’m turned on to a guy by different things. It could be the way he looks. It could be his intelligence. It’s really a spontaneous thing,” she says.
