Gwyneth Paltrow is painfully candid about her marriage to Coldplay rocker Chris Martin. It’s not always “rosy,” she says of their seven-and-a-half-year union. But it’s far from over.
The 38-year-old actress is the poster child for making marriage work, and one thing she makes certain of is not to take things for granted, she tells Elle magazine.
After winning an Oscar for 1998 film “Shakespeare In Love,” her career has had its ups and downs.
But lately she’s on a decided upswing. She discovered a new talent, singing, and wowed audiences with her performances on the hit Fox show “Glee,” and in the movie “Country Strong.”

She’s also established herself as a guru for healthy living and publishes a Web site, goop.com, promoting positive lifestyle choices.
Like her career, her marriage has had its ups and downs, including sporadic tabloid reports that the relationship is on the rocks.
“Sometimes it’s hard being with someone for a long time,” she told the magazine.
“We go through periods that aren’t all rosy. I always say, life is long and you never know what’s going to happen.
“If, God forbid, we were ever not to be together, I respect him so much as the father of my children. Like, I made such a good choice,” she said.
“He’s such a good dad. You can never be relaxed or smug and think, I’ve got this thing.
“That’s also part of it – keeping yourself on your toes. I’m not going to take this for granted.”
Still the couple go out of their way to avoid being seen together in public, apparently at Martin’s insistence.
“He makes music for his fans, and he doesn’t want people to conjure a lame famous couple when they’re getting into his music. I get it,” she said.
Paltrow described her husband as a “musical genius.”
“It’s like living with Picasso,” she added.
