Italian model Elisabetta Canalis, best known for her relationship with George Clooney, is now opening eyes by posing naked in a new campaign for animal rights organization PETA.
Canalis is well known in her native country of Italy, where she works as a television presenter.
She will get better acquainted with American audiences when she appears on the new season of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.”
Canalis, 32, says she has been sensitive about the treatment of animals going back to a childhood incident.
“I was a little girl, but by that moment I thought that I would never, never, never wear fur in my life,” she says.
Canalis made headlines over the summer when she split from Clooney after a two year relationship.
She reportedly wanted more commitment and began publicly talking about marriage to the commitment-phobic actor, and walked out on him when he spurned her.
She spoke out about her split for the first time this week.
“I have always seen cold and controlled men as the right ones for me,” she told Italian magazine Chi.
Apparently she’s very submissive. “I’m a bit of a tomboy, but when it comes to love I am a doormat,” she said. “I’m looking for men who can give me security.”
The dancing competition, she added, is helping her get over the break up.
“Throwing myself into my work is the only way I can cope, it distracts me from all emotions,” she said.
