“Twilight’s” Robert Pattinson may be picking up his guitar and planning an album, now that he is between movies, following the end of filming on “Cosmopolis.” But don’t start watching the charts just yet.
Rob is an undeniable music fan and has played in front of small groups on a number of occasions, but an album is a major production and Pattinson still has major commitments ahead of him.
Nonetheless, Us Weekly is reporting that Pattinson will be recording his own album over the next couple of months while he has downtime.
It will be “guitar-based and drums, very organic-sounding, nothing pop… Like stripped-down Ray LaMontagne meets Van Morrison,” a source told the magazine.
“Rob has been kicking a few original songs around for a long time, but his schedule didn’t allow it,” one insider claims. “Now he’s got some weeks to get everything in line before going back to promoting Breaking Dawn.”
Rob recorded two songs, “Never Think” (with Sam Bradley) and “Let Me Sign,” both of which appear on the original “Twilight” soundtrack.
He’s also been spotted here and there playing in small clubs, mostly unannounced before friends. But whether he has time to put together an album is problematic.
He is already starting to get sucked into the promotion machine for “Breaking Dawn, Part I,” the latest in the “Twilight” series.
And, he will also have to do some promotion work for “Bel Ami,” his period film based on Guy de Maupassant’s 19th century novel.
The movie is about decadent French society, co-starring Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas.
Pattinson plays Georges Duroy, a down-on-his-luck soldier who uses his sex appeal to seduce rich French women in a vicious quest for social status and wealth. It’s based on Guy de Maupassant’s 19th century novel.
Rob has talked often about his passion for music, and the problems with trying to both act and play music.
“I don’t understand people who can do a music career and acting at the same time. Seems like such a different part of your brain,” he told Collider magazine last yaer.
“I’ve been trying to write some stuff, a lot of my friends have been approached about making their first albums now, and it’s pissing me off a little bit.
“I think at the end of the year, I think I have a few months off and I might try to do it then; I also might try to write something.”
Update: MTV News reported that Pattinson’s rep called the report “untrue.”
“He is not working on an album right now,” the rep said. See what Rob had to say below.
