Bristol Palin may or may not be a homophobic, but reality television show pressure to create fake drama to titillate viewers can lead to real world problems. Palin found out the hard way while cameras were rolling.
The daughter of former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin was on the Strip in West Hollywood, collecting B-roll, when she wandered into the Saddle Ranch Chop House.
The restaurant and bar is known for its mechanical bull, a West Texas novelty made famous by the 1980 John Travolta movie “Urban Cowboy.”
With a reality show film crew in tow, Palin, of course, jumped on for a ride. The bull got a little jiggly with her (see the video) before she fell off.
Needless to say, rowdy bar patrons heckled her.
“Did you ride Levi like that?” one shouted, calling Bristol’s mom “evil.”
The best policy, of course, is to just let it go and ignore the the loudmouths. But Palin had a “Jersey Shore” moment.
Why not a little shouting match for the cameras? Except it got pretty ugly pretty quickly.
The guy turned out to be a bit of a lout.
Beside calling Bristol a “f*cking b*tch” and “white trash,” he also yelled: “Your mother’s a whore.”
That led Bristol to counter: “I just know you are a homosexual.”
The man, later identified as Stephen Hanks by gossip site TMZ said he had no regrets about the confrontation. He’s actually quite articulate. (see video).
Hey, give him a reality show!
For the record, Palin’s rep denied the 20-year-old is homophobic. She was “only defending” her mom, the rep said.
Palin “was approached in a confrontational and inappropriate manner when two men aggressively shouted expletives aimed at her in reference to her mother.
“Bristol responded to the unprovoked verbal assault by calmly standing her ground and defending her family.”
Great reality television, eh? Bristol is a pistol, no doubt about that. Check out the video below.
