Taylor Lautner GQ Gay Question Sparks Backlash

The Australian edition of GQ is under fire for asking Twilight hunk Taylor Lautner if he was hit on during a dinner with gay film maker Gus Van Sant.

The interview was the first to address Lautner’s sexuality. The hunky actor quickly put to rest any rumors by pronouncing that he is straight.

“No, definitely not. I think they know I’m straight,” Lautner told the magazine.

Lautner has been publicly linked with his “Abduction” costar Lily Collins and singer Taylor Swift.

But now Van Sant and gay screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, who was also at the dinner have lashed back at the magazine.

Taylor Lautner has drawn the attention of gay men for his boyish good looks and buff body. But he tells Aussie GQ he’s straight.

Oscar winner Black was quick to react to the controversy, writing in a post on his blog: “Above and beyond this clear attack on my character.”

“I’m shocked that GQ would allow their writer to lean on the scurrilous, outdated stereotype that gay men are by nature sexual predators.

“I mean, would you have asked this same question if it were Diablo Cody and Kathryn Bigelow at dinner with Mr. Lautner?”

The uproar has prompted an apology from the magazine.

“We’ve seen some of the comments floating around regarding our recent interview with Taylor Lautner and apologize if anyone was offended by anything in the article,” a posting on the magazine’s Facebook page read.

“It certainly wasn’t our intention to paint anyone in the story as a sexual predator.”

“The point we were actually trying to push was that Taylor is irresistible to virtually everyone – regardless of sexuality or gender,” it added.

Apparently, the magazine was done in by its own fawning over its subject.

The magazine noted that Mark Wahlberg deemed him better looking than Leonardo DiCaprio. Are they now saying Wahlberg is gay?
