Kim ended the marriage yesterday (Oct. 31) with a single piece of paper–her divorce filing– marking one of the most spectacular celebrity marriage collapses since Britney Spears’ 55-hour marriage to her high school sweetheart ended in annulment.

It’s always impossible to tell where reality ends and reality show scripting begins with the Kardashians, but the whole affair is surrounded by an undeniable stench.
Her fans have to feel let down; her wedding sponsors, who reportedly ponied up $18 million for all the various rights to the “fairy-tale” wedding have to feel ripped off.
The interesting thing about Kim is that she made a ton of money off the wedding and will make a ton of money off the divorce.
She’ll sell the rights to her story, snag god knows how many magazine covers and do the talk show circuit, keeping herself and her brands in the public eye for months to come.
So was it all just a set up? Was Kris played for a fool, given his whirlwind romance and very public marriage proposal?
“It was pretty much an arranged marriage right from the start,” a source told gossip site radaronline.
“Kim was looking for a husband and Kris was selected for her, amongst others. She wasn’t really into him but she hoped she would be able to develop some feelings, but it never happened,” the source continued.
Despite all the lovey-dovey publicity photos, “she was never particularly attracted to him, and by all accounts absolutely hated sleeping with him, or even having to make out with him.’
Does that constitute “irreconcilable differences,” as Kim claims.
Or did Kris refuse to subjugate himself to the Kardashian machine and take a back seat to the sisters?
One thing is certain, leading up to the marriage tensions ran high.
It’s a wonder she got married at all, with all the emotion, tears and bitter fights with her husband-to-be.
On Part One of “E! special: Kim’s Fairytale Wedding,” Khloe suspiciously asked what Humphries was hoping to get out of the marriage.
It was clear Khloe didn’t like him, even though Kim scolded her for daring to question Kris’ motives.
The back-story emanating out of the Kardashian clan (Khloe again?) is that Kris was just seeking fame at Kim’s expense.
Now Kim has hired famed celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who most recently handled Maria Shriver’s divorce from Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Kim reportedly is relying on what’s supposed to be a rock-solid pre-nup.
“After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision,” she said in a statement.
“I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”
But Kris had a different reaction.
“I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents,’ he said in a statement.
“I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce … I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.”
Kim was in a disastrous marriage once before, at 19, to music producer Damon Thomas.
That ended in divorce after four years and Kim accused Damon of physical and emotional abuse in the divorce papers.
