Demi Moore’s marriage to Ashton Kutcher was improbable to begin with and now that it has come to an end, Moore was probably doing the “Two and a Half Men” star a favor, and herself a favor–for one big reason.
The end of their marriage really came down to age; not Demi’s but Ashton’s. It may have seemed like no big deal when Kutcher, 16 years Demi’s junior, married her at 27 in 2005.
She was 43 at the time and looked spectacular for her age, as she does now. But something happened along the way.
He’s 33 now, well on his way to middle age, and likely suffering from the first of several mid-life crises. His youth has all but ended, and his prospects with Demi are diminishing with every passing day.
The issue isn’t that she’s approaching 50, but more that he’s approaching 40. He gave up a good part of his youth to be with her and he can’t get that back.
To continue in the relationship would have meant foreclosing on a time in his life when he should be experiencing much more than domesticity. Children may have been the one thing that held them together.
Demi talked about starting a family with Ashton in May last year in an interview with Elle magazine, but thankfully it never happened. Children are not a solution to a bad marriage.
Landing the job on “Two and a Half Men,” renewed Ashton’s career, raised his profile and probably was the final nail in the coffin for his marriage.
“Demi’s sick of feeling like she can’t trust Ashton,” a friend reportedly close to the couple told gossip site radaronline.
“Especially as his star continues to rise with ‘Two and a Half Men,’ he’s become really vague about where — and with whom — he spends his time.”
An alleged fling in September last year with 21-year-old Brittney Jones blew up after she went to the tabloids. The couple brushed off the claims, but his behavior didn’t change.
His fling with party girl Sara Leal, 23, on his sixth wedding anniversary to Demi in September, is typical of a mid-life crisis.
The hot tub romp with four girls was so blatant– he was hoping for a threesome–he had to know it would find its way into the tabloids and likely trigger the end of his marriage–something he apparently didn’t have the courage to do on his own.
“Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK.”
Like most Hollywood stars, Kutcher comes across as narcissistic, self-absorbed and immature. In the end, Demi is probably better off without him.
