Kim Kardashian appears to be gearing up to trash estranged husband Kris Humphries on her reality show in a desperate attempt to create sympathy for herself and justify her rash decision to end their marriage.
The clues were telltale at first, but have become more obvious as season 2 of “Kourtney & Kim Take New York,” which debuts Nov. 27, gears up with new promo spots and leaks to the media.
In the latest media plants, several gossip Web sites are reporting how “mortified” Kim is after reviewing film footage of Kris taken for her show.
He reportedly acts like a lout toward her and her sisters, who did nothing, incidentally, but bad-mouth him before the wedding.
Kim’s credibility has been on the skids since she ended her marriage just 72 days after a blowout wedding that is said to have reaped nearly $18 million in product endorsements, paid interviews and advertising for her two-hour wedding special.
She clearly misjudged the fallout when she flew off to Australia following her divorce filing and seemed capricious and uncaring about the end of her brief union.
Momager Kris Jenner was left to do damage control on the talk shows and came off looking ridiculous by claiming Kim made no money on the wedding.
Then Life & Style, a go-to publication the Kardashians use for their diet promotions, ran a story about an alleged three-year-old affair between Kourtney Kardashian baby daddy Scott Disick and Kristin Cavallari.
Cavallari promptly blasted the claims and branded the story a transparent attempt to shift media attention away of Kim to Kourtney’s hapless boyfriend.
None of the strategies have worked, and now the entire Kardashian family’s credibility is near zero.
More than 90,000 people have signed an online petition demanding that E! Entertainment drop the Kardashians.
While that’s only a drop in the bucket compared with Kim’s four million plus Twitter followers, it’s a major crack in Kim’s, heretofore, teflon-coated image. And, the hits keep coming.
A company made big headlines by suing Kim this week over her endorsement of a laser removal device, one of many products she hypes for a fee, alleging Kim made claims even the manufacturer warned against in its product labeling.
Next up, PETA plans to unveil a billboard in Los Angeles criticizing Kim for wearing fox fur. Ironically, sister Khloe posed nude to support the animal rights group.
Given all of that, the Kardashians must believe the only way to resurrect Kim and the franchise, is to demonize Humphries.
Already the long knives have been drawn. According to reports, “Kourtney & Kim Take New York,” will chart the breakdown of the couple’s marriage.
Kim has viewed all the footage and has editorial control of what is shown, despite not being an executive producer of the show, according to radar.
“It was hard for Kim to watch all the footage, she has been unable to review it without bursting into tears. [She was] absolutely mortified when she saw on camera, the way that Kris was treating her,” said the sympathetic story.
“The marriage was already under a tremendous amount of stress, but she just couldn’t believe that she had married this man that was treating her and her family like this,” it continues.
In contrast, Kris is known to be nothing if not polite in NBA circles and his desperate willingness “to do anything” to save the marriage has made Kim look all that much more venal.
Nonetheless, promo spots have teed-up the tear down. In one, a dramatic voice-over warns ominously: “Not every fairytale has a happy ending.”
Kim is also shown blasting Kris: “Your wife has to find out you’re in a different country on Twitter…” clearly suggesting infidelity.
And, Kourtney complains that Kris is leading Scott astray. “He’s been out partying every night this week,” she whines.
The only question remaining is will viewers believe it? Check out a promo below.
