Paris Jackson, the 13-year-old daughter of the late pop star Michael Jackson, shows incredible poise in a last minute interview with Ellen DeGeneres and reveals her one of her secret wishes.
The thing she’d really wants, she says, is to live a “normal” life.
Despite all of the advantages and eccentricities of her father, she seems remarkably down to earth and intent on pursuing an acting career.
“When I came to [her school], they didn’t know who I was. I was like, yes, I have a chance to be normal,” she tells Ellen.
“I’m treated the same,” she says.
Michael was known for the extreme lengths he went to, to protect his children and shield them from the pubic, including covering their faces with masks.
“I was like, ‘This is stupid, why I am I wearing a mask’ but I kind of realised when I got older I got that he only tried to protect us and he explained that to us too,” she says.
She also remembers him as a doting father, despite his bizarre behavior and eccentric lifestyle.
“He said, ‘If I die tomorrow, always remember what I told you.’ I took his advice, and I remembered everything he told me,” Paris says in the interview, which airs tomorrow (Dec. 15).
“My dad was in the movie Moonwalker, and I knew he could sing really well but I didn’t know he could act. I saw that and I said, ‘Wow, I want to be just like him,’ ” says Paris
She’s already landed a starring role in the fantasy film “Lundon’s Bridge and the Three Keys,” based on a young adult series by Dennis H. Christen.
Paris says she persuaded her grandmother Katherine, 81, to let her star in the film because it had a message close to her late father’s heart, and he always encouraged her acting aspirations.
“We would do improv together,” she adds. “He would give us little scenarios. He would go, ‘Okay, in this scene you’re going to cry,’ and I’d cry on the spot.”
Paris was an unintended guest. She stepped in at the last minute after Lindsay Lohan, who was scheduled to unveil her Playboy cover, missed her flight from Hawaii and couldn’t make the taping.
