Kim Kardashian apparently blind sided media outlets, including ABC’s Barbara Walters, about her crumbling marriage, leaving interviewers with egg on their face when she announced her divorce in October.
Walters named Kim, sisters Khloe and Kourtney and momager Kris Jenner to her list of most fascinating people, but she only found out about the divorce after her interview was taped.
Walters did her best to fake it with photos and a reader about the divorce in her special, but did not have any footage of her asking Kim about it.

The interview was recorded in September before the couple’s split, and Kim never let on that anything was awry.
Instead Barbara hashed over old ground about Kim’s sex tape and the mystery of their popular appeal.
“You don’t really act; you don’t sing; you don’t dance; you don’t have any – forgive me – any talent!” Walters said.
Like Walters, Marie Claire editors were unaware Kim’s marriage was on the rocks and she did not alert them, according to fashion Web site Fashionista.
It had tapped Kardashian to cover its December issue.
Ironically, it was her first Marie Claire cover and a step up from the tabloid gossip rags that usually feature her.
Typically, a monthly magazine publishes in the last two weeks of the month before its cover date.
Kim went public with her divorce on Oct. 31, perhaps hoping Halloween would contain the devastating news, leaving about 10 days before the magazine hit newsstands.
The magazine apparently tried to cover its ass with a cover headline that read: “Kim Kardashian Reveals What Went On In Her Crazy Marriage.” But the article provides little insight on that score.
Although some minor rewriting must have taken place, because the divorce is mentioned, Kim‘s massive wedding ring is prominently featured in the cover photo.
Excerpts of the interview published on Marie Claire’s Web site, also give the same impression. “I feel like where [Kris and I are] right now is the best time in my life,” Kim is quoted saying.
“We have a lot of trust, and I don’t think either of us would do anything to break that. It makes life so easy. He’s such a good guy,” she said in full marriage mode.
In one of the biggest nuggets, Kim opines: “My biggest pet peeve is I guess when people lie. There’s no need for it.”
Kim, however, did have the presence to inform her family about her divorce decision in a lengthy email letter before she went public.
Kardashian’s divorce announcement, of course, blew up into a major scandal that left her reputation in tatters.
Many critics have claimed it was a sham to cash in on a wedding extravaganza. Kim has hotly denied the charges.
