Anne Hathaway Amazing in Streep Kennedy Center Tribute (watch!) 1Anne Hathaway paid a stellar tribute to Kennedy Center honoree Meryl Streep at last night’s (Dec. 27) special awards show. Who knew she would go to such painful lengths to salute her film idol.

Hathaway, 29, who starred with Streep in the 2006 film “The Devil Wears Prada,” led Kevin Kline, Stanley Tucci, Emily Blunt and others in the tribute. She sang a song called “She’s My Pal.”

The 29-year-old actress, who sang with the All-Eastern U.S. High School Honors Chorus at Carnegie Hall as a teenager and is classically trained as an actress, was pitch perfect as she sang the verse:

“So when I get blue,
She’s the one I go to,
For her heart is as big
As a Ham!

With that, Hathaway eased into a full split. Streep looked on in wonderment as Anne signaled for a little help. Blunt, Tucci and Kline came to the rescue, lifting her by her arms.

Then, a chorus of folks flooded the stage for the finale.

The 34th Annual Kennedy Center Honors was not the night’s most watched program. The repeat of NCIS drew 12.53 million viewers while the CBS show drew 8.51 million viewers in its first hour and 8.19 million in its second, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

In addition to Streep, among those who were honored for their career achievements were Barbara Cook, Neil Diamond, Yo-Yo Ma and Sonny Rollins.

Hathaway, one of Hollywood’s most versatile actresses, will no doubt one day be among them.

Check out Meryl’s tribute below; Anne performs about 11:53 seconds into the clip.
