Separately, Michelle Williams told an audience at the festival she became so thoroughly enmeshed in Marilyn Monroe she developed new respect for the ’50s screen siren.
She was far more complex than history has given her credit, she said.
Jolie, Pitt, Williams and other stars were on hand for the awards ceremony, which hands out Desert Palm Achievement Awards voted on by a jury.
Pitt walked with a cane after tearing his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) earlier this week while skiing and taking a tumble on a hill.
“I was carrying my daughter [Vivienne] down the hill and I slipped,” Pitt, 48, told reporters. “It was either her or me.”
Angie: Injury Hasn’t Slowed Brad Down
Brad doesn’t need surgery, but will be using the cane for a while.
Meanwhile, Angelina gushed how proud she was of Pitt, who was presented with the Desert Palm Achievement Award by his “Moneyball” co-star Jonah Hill.
“I’m proud of him every single day,” gushed Jolie, who recently made her directorial debut in the war drama “In the Land of Blood and Honey,” a controversial film about the war in Bosnia.
Angelina says Brad isn’t letting his injured knee slow him down.
“He’s not that kind of guy [who lets injuries keep him from being active],” says Jolie. “He still does everything.”
Jolie, who admits she’s not a good cook, wants to become a better chef and master French as one of her next big projects.
“I think I should learn French and be a better cook,” Jolie tells Interview magazine. “I’m always doing something. I never shut my brain off. I always have something going on.”
Angelina Jolie: Pax, 8, Is a Better Cook Than Me
Angelina says her son Pax, 8, knows his way around the kitchen better than she does.
“I’m not the best cook. Pax is a better cook than me. Pax likes to cook. But I try to when I can. Any house that we’re in, we all chip in.
