Katy Perry said her parents didn’t speak for her, so why do they keep talking? In the latest bizarre twist to her break up with Russell Brand, her deeply religious parents allegedly want to set her up with a good Christian boy. Guess who?
Katy’s parents, who never approved of tart UK comedian Brand, have their eye on Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow. Pastors Keith and Mary Hudson think he’s got the right spiritual devotion for their daughter. Tiebow, who led the Broncos into this year’s playoffs prays with every good play he makes.
After last week’s stunning win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the playoffs, Tebow is a hot property. The Hudsons are reportedly planning to ask the NFL star to stop by their church in Huntington Beach, Calif, according to the sometimes hard to believe OK magazine. A small age difference needs to be reconciled. Tim is 24 and Katy is 27, but it shouldn’t be a problem, if the spirit moves them.
Katy may not be all that opposed to the idea. “[Katy’s] mentioned on more than one occasion how much she likes Tim,” a source told the magazine. “Katy’s mom firmly believes the best cure for heartache is to quickly fall in love again…
In her mind, Tebow is the perfect guy for her daughter. “He’s handsome, charming, intelligent and above all, a good Christian,” the source says. The Hudsons want to book Tebow to speak at the church, and plan to have Katy perform at the same time so they can meet.
Although Katy singing act is risque, some reports claim that she is a Christian girl at heart, which may have caused friction with Brand. The English comedian is an atheist and reportedly dissed her parents’ religious beliefs.
During one of their sermons last week, the Hudson’s suggested that Perry’s divorce was a “gift from God.” That provoked a Twitter smackdown from the California Dream girl. She wrote that no one speaks for her about the divorce, including her parents.
Katy, meanwhile, won big at the People’s Choice Awards, sweeping all five categories she was nominated in. She decided at the last minute not to attend, after estranged husband was dis-invited to avoid any awkward moments at the event. The two took separate holiday vacations before Brand announced the divorce on Dec. 30.
