Kim Kardashian has really gone off the deep end. She asserts on the latest episode of “Kourtney & Kim Take New York” that psychic John Edward made her see the light on her marriage to Kris Humphries by communing with her dead father.
Given the show’s trajectory–to deconstruct Humphries and justify Kim’s divorce–and ample evidence that one key scene was faked, can anything Kim says or does be believed on this “reality” show?
Kim obviously wanted to show her decision was based on a higher authority. Okay, God was out. She’s not exactly religious. So, she chose a psychic medium instead. An exorcism might have been more convincing.
Not even Houdini, the greatest magician in modern history, believed in psychics. But, hey, whatever works. Kim dragged a reluctant Kourtney to meet with Edward, who was asked to contact their late Robert Kardashian.
Edward seemed to have no trouble dialing him up. He had uncanny knowledge about the family and even sort of predicted Kourtney’s pregnancy with baby daddy Scott Disick. They announced the pregnancy in November, supposedly after this episode was filmed.
But who can believe the sequence of events?
In the Jan. 8 episode, Kim is pictured having a heart-to-heart talk with momager Kris Jenner in the back of a limo, supposedly on a business trip to Dubai in October. But evidence suggests the scene was shot in December at a Los Angeles studio, although it was made to appear contemporaneous in the show.
Who’s to say when the footage with Edward was shot? In any event, the psychic, now speaking for the father, asked Kim if she learned anything from her marriage to music producer Damon Thomas. At least that marriage lasted four years, although Kim later said she was subject to physical and mental abuse.
After the session, Kim burst into tears and confessed to Kourtney that Edwards made her realize her marriage to Humphries, after less than 72 days, had run its course.
“When he was taking about the divorce stuff, that’s why I started to cry, because I honestly feel I can’t do this anymore with Kris,” Kim said. “I feel like I got into this too fast and I don’t want to be married anymore.”
Say what you will about psychics, to lay her decision off on advice from dead father is really below the belt. One thing is certain, it’s not like he’s going to complain, although the distinguished lawyer is probably spinning in his grave.
