Kristen Bell has always had a secret desire. She’s obsessed with sloths. She finally got her wish for her 31st birthday, and to call it an emotional event would be an understatement. It was also hilarious.
Bell, best known for her breakout role as the title character on UPN’s drama “Veronica Mars,” was even funnier recounting the whole experience on the Ellen DeGeneres show.
Fiancé, Dax Shepard kicked things off by telling Kristen he had a present for her that probably no one else in the world had ever received. She seemed to sense right away it was something she always wanted.
“I immediately was overcome and thought, ‘There’s a sloth near,'” she told Ellen on Tuesday’s (Jan . 31) show. “And I didn’t know how to process that because my entire life had been waiting for this moment, where I would get to interact with a sloth.”
Bell explained that she cries when she’s sad and she cries when she’s happy. On a scale of one to ten, she’s crying her eyes out above seven. And she said she was an 11 when she sensed the sloth.
“I don’t know how to compete with all this emotion,” she said, “so I just kind of crawl up on the bed and I’m crying so hard.”
Shepard walked into the room with a video recorder in hand expecting to capture the happy moment. Instead a hysterical Bell couldn’t get up off the bed–or stop crying. “He’s coming for the party?” she asked.
Bell’s affection for sloths goes way back. “I’ve been obsessed with sloths for as long as I can remember. They must be my spirit animal or something. There’s nothing cuter than a baby sloth … OK, maybe a slow Loris. Maybe. On a good day,” she told the Insider earlier this year.
Too bad the sloth only stayed for the day. But that was probably best for the sloth and Kristen. Oh yes, happy birthday Kristen. Check out the video below:
