He bought the 1929 Spanish colonial for $3.625 million in 2003 and it just hit the market for $7.5 million. He’s justifying the markup because of extensive renovations to the property.

The Emmy-winning actor reportedly spent a small fortune having the house meticulously restored in 2004.

But whether he can come close to the asking price in L.A.’s depressed housing market remains to be seen. Mid-priced upper-bracket homes– and by Hollywood standards this is mid-priced–are having some trouble moving.

The house is located in Los Feliz, which is just a stone’s throw from L.A.’s sprawling Griffith Park, so that’s an added amenity. The property also has ocean views, gated driveway, an expansive pool and outdoor entertainment area complete with a fireplace.

The house also has incredible period details, reflective of Hollywood’s golden age just before the stock market crash of 1929 and the Great Depression that followed. The entrance is spectacular with a massive staircase, stained glass rotunda ceiling.

The 8,184-square-foot house has seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms. There’s also a library, living room and den with fireplaces, a huge kitchen, a home theater, gym and steam/sauna room and a huge spa like bathroom with changing room.

The property also boasts a separate, one-bedroom guesthouse and a “wine vault.”

The actor also owns a $6.3 million estate and a $2.5 million penthouse in New York. Check out the photos.
