Ben Flajnik just couldn’t escape Courtney Robertson’s bad girl vibe and proposed on the finale of ABC’s “The Bachelor.” Despite all the drama, most fans had to see it coming.
Lindzi Cox, was the set up. She seemed to have Ben’s heart–and attention–early one, even winning the “first impression rose.”
She stole the episode when she choose to met Ben by riding in on a horse instead of taking the traditional limousine. Given Courtney’s drama and deviousness, she acted like she would be the chosen one. Wrong. The Switzerland finale seemed to genuinely shock her.
She took the news hard as Ben told her she was not the one. “You are what I’ve looked for in a woman my entire life,” Ben told her. “But I’m in love with someone else.” Right, Ben didn’t really make sense with that one. But he chose Courtney, how does that make sense?
Ben’s sister Julia thought her brother was attracted by Courtney’s confidence and work ethic. Well, she did go skinny dipping with him on the beach.
Ben introduced both to his mother and sister, and both thought Courtney was the better match. So every man should get the wife he so richly deserves. Courtney will probably eventually make his life hell.
Although, the moment he told Courtney was touching. “What a journey. It’s a been an incredible road with all of the ups and downs we’ve encountered, real signs of what life could be. But I promised I wouldn’t get down on one knee unless it was forever.”
Even then, Ben didn’t seem to be sure Courtney would accept. “Well you’re my forever,” he added. “I’ve waited a really, really long time to tell you I’m in love with you, more than you’ll ever know.”
Then he got down on one knee and gave her the ring. But wait!
The final scene was taped last November, and Ben revealed in a post-finale “After the Final Rose” show that they had already broken up once and gotten back together. Ben blamed it on the tabloids. Of course, he was photographed kissing another woman; that could have had something to do with it.
But Ben denied he “kissed or hooked up” with another woman, while Courtney, surprisingly hung in there and supported her man. Maybe, she is serious.
“We just want to take our time and assess our relationship,” he said. “Everyone wants to be a critic, but the people we know love us and support us, and that’s all that matters.”
