Kristen Stewart mixes it up as a warrior maiden in a new look at her latest movie, “Snow White and the Huntsman.” From sliding down a sewer to escape the evil queen to wielding a mean sword, she does it all.
The Rupert Sanders-directed film is a distinct departure from the fairy tale as it was most popularly portrayed in Disney’s 1937 animated feature “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.”
In the new trailer, Stewart says the film is extremely dark and plays out almost like a tragedy. “She bleeds for her land and her people, and that`s just such a cool concept for me because it`s other people caring about people,” she says.

“My character is definitely a born leader. I mean, it’s literally pumping through those veins, but it’s been taken from her; she was put away when she was seven years old, and her mother and her father were killed basically right in front of her,” she adds.
Of course the treacherous murder was at the hands of the evil queen, played with stunning effect by Charlize Theron, who steals scenes with her powerful presence.
The queen is dead, she has no heart,” says Sanders. “She’s the darkness within us all.”
“She’s perfect to play the queen because she has this presence,” says Kristen. “She can level you.”
In this version of the tale, evil Queen Ravenna recruits the Huntsmen (Chris Hemsworth) to kill Snow White after learning from the mirror that her step-daughter is not only fairer, but will one-day rule the kingdom.
The Huntsman has a change of heart and teaches Snow White how to fight With the aid of seven dwarves and Prince William (Sam Claflin), she leads a rebellion that aims to topple her evil stepmother.
The film hits theaters on June 1. Check out the clips below:
