Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen, TheImproper.comJustin Bieber gave his Canadian protege Carly Rae Jepsen another leg up in the music business with a show and tell on the Ellen DeGeneres show. Justin also unveiled his new single “Boyfriend.”

Jepson isn’t exactly a newcomer to music. She was nominated for a Juno, Canada’s equivalent of the Grammys. In 2007, she placed third in the fifth season of “Canadian Idol,” and also appeared in the Canadian Idol Top 3 concert tour.

She released her debut single a cover of John Denver’s song “Sunshine On My Shoulders” the following year. She released her first album Tug of War in Sept. 2008. her second studio album “Curiosity” will be released Feb. 28.

“Call Me Maybe” is the first song by a Canadian artist to reach the top of the digital chart since Justin Bieber’s “Baby” in January 2010.

The 26-year-old Canadian related how Justin just called her out of the blue. “I had been signed in Canada to 604 records,” Carly says. “I had never branched outside of Canada and had no idea how to do that and then one miraculous day, Justin called.”

“At the time, I was touring in Canada in a soccer Mom van with my band, and it seemed to be too good to be true.”

R&B singer Usher mentored Bieber in much the same way. After some of Bieber’s songs became YouTube sensations, he took the teen under his wing and helped promote his career.

Since Carly posted the video for her song “Call Me Maybe” on YouTube last December she’s gotten more than 3.4 million views. Justin and girlfriend Selena Gomez made a video promoting the song and got 3.4 million views in just three days.

Ashley Tisdale and her new boyfriend, Martin Johnson, actress Sammy Droke, former “Hanna Montana” star Mateo Arias and Big Time Rush’s Logan Henderson, Kendall Schmidt and Carlos Pena, joined in the video.

Justin appears to be creating his own stable of stars now. Check out their visit on Ellen.
