Rihanna’s love life has been almost as stormy as her new movie “Battleship.” She was asked at a movie news conference in London about rumors she’s hooking up with Ashton Kutcher. Some in the room expected the singer to go volcanic.
Tabloids have been having a field day with the singer ever since she collaborated with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown on respective songs and hinted on Twitter that they have reconciled.
Brown infamously beat her on the eve of The Grammys in 2009 and later pleaded guilty to assault. Photos of Rihanna’s bloodied and bruised face went viral on the Internet, and she became a poster child for opponents of domestic abuse.
Since then, Rihanna has drifted in and out of relationships, and reportedly has been single. Then, earlier this month, she was spotted arriving at Kutcher’s house late in the evening. She stayed until the wee hours of the morning.
An ITN reporter at the “Battleship” news conference tried a back door approach. The reporter prefaced her question by praising Ri’s fans and her career before getting to the point.
“I just wonder if you are as happy in your private life, and will we be seeing a certain Mr. Ashton Kutcher, perhaps, making a trip over here,” the reporter said referring to the movie’s premiere, which Rihanna will attend.
The 24-year-old singer looked momentarily stunned then perturbed. “Wow, how disappointing was that question,” she replied, laughing nervously.
“Shall we move onto another question?” the moderator said, jumping in.
“Absolutely,” Rihanna replied, before adding: “I’m happy, and I’m single, if that’s what you were really asking.”
Another tabloid rumor bites the dust.
The movie will debut in May. Meanwhile, Rihanna recently shot music videos with Drake for “Take Care,” Coldplay for “Princess of China” and her own video for “Where Have You Been.” All three should drop soon.
