Justin Bieber is testing out his new role as “sex symbol” with the video for his new song “Boyfriend.” A teaser of the clip shows him standing in shadows surrounded by women.
They don’t look like the hands of teenyboppers, and one hand wears some funky looking ring with some scary knife-like designs.
The 20-second cut looks like it could be the opening of his full-length video. Justin does a soft rap and near the end of the video, feminine hands swarm over his face and shoulders.
Justin is wearing a black leather jacket and white tee-shirt with a gold chain.
He sings the opening verse of his song before the teaser fades to black.
The 18-year-old singer is hoping to take his career to the next level with his new album Believe.
“Boyfriend,” co-produced and co-written by Mike Posner, is a simple love song with a beat that girls will easily be able to dance to. But Bieber reportedly attempts for a more mature sound.
At the moment, it’s hard to say exactly where the Biebs fits in. A rush of new boy bands are hitting the scene. The Wanted has just landed from the UK, drawing hordes of U.S. fans. Will Justin be brushed aside for the next new thing?
Ominously, Lady Gaga just passed him on Twitter and now has the greatest number of Twitter followers.
Believe will be released later this year, and manager Scooter Braun tweeted that a video is in production.
In the meantime, check out his teaser. Has Justin got what it takes?
