Daniel Craig, easily the sexiest James Bond of all time, set a box-office record for the franchise. The iconic series’ latest installment, Skyfall, grossed $87.8 million domestically in its opening weekend.
The rugged Craig, 44, admitted he hit the gym hard for the film’s many shirtless scenes.
“He doesn’t really just walk into a room and sit down, he tends to jump through the window and sit down, so I had to stay in shape,” said Craig, who’s married to British actress Rachel Weisz.
Craig’s co-star Naomie Harris gushed over Daniel’s raw masculinity.
“I do get to have a lovely moment with him, where I try to seduce him,” she said. “He’s a very hot guy, definitely. He worked out for two hours every day after filming. He’s a Bond in real life – very physical, capable and energetic.”
The 23rd movie in the franchise, and Craig’s third’s turn as the famed super-spy, took in $20 million more its opening weekend than 2008’s “Quantum of Solace” ($67.5 million), the franchise’s former best.
Overseas, the film has been on fire since its late-October release. Worldwide, “Skyfall” has grossed $518.6 million in just three weeks.
Disney’s “Wreck-It Ralph” placed second with $33.1 million. The family friendly flick maintained a steady lead above Denzel Washington’s “Flight,” which took in $15.1 million.
“Argo” held forth this week at $6.7 million, followed closely behind by Liam Neeson’s Taken 2 at $4.0 million.
