Justin Bieber confidently blew off claims last year that he fathered a child after a backstage tryst and claimed he took a DNA test to prove it. Only he didn’t, countered the Chicago lawyer who represents the alleged baby mama. WTF?
Mariah Yeater made shocking headlines a year ago this month by claiming Bieber was the father of her baby son Trystin. She sued to establish paternity in court until lawyer Jeffery Leving stepped into the case.
The noted Chicago paternity lawyer took over from her initial lawyers, withdrew the suit and said it was in everyone’s best interest to settle the case privately out of court. Bieber laughed off the allegations, said he’d never met her and even said on television he’d taken a DNA test to put the matter to rest.
That was the last word in the case until this week, when Leving finally issued a public statement to The New York Daily News revealing Bieber’s duplicity.
He’s never seen the results of the test or received confirmation that Bieber actually took a test as claimed. “I have not seen [Bieber’s] DNA test results or had them scrutinized,” he told the newspaper.
“If there was a first test, and I have no documentation to say there even was, I wasn’t provided with the results. I have not had my demands for an independent DNA test carried out by Mr. Bieber.”
If Yeater is telling the truth, then Leving has done her and Bieber a great disservice by allowing the case to drag out for a year without resolution. As even he says, Bieber is either the father or he isn’t. There’s no middle ground.
Someone is lying and, so far, everyone thinks it’s Yeater, who’s endured all manner of abuse, including death threats. But it could just as easily be Bieber, who’s sleazier side seems more evident every day.
At this stage of the game, Leving should file a lawsuit already; that’s what courts are for.
