Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart provide some of the backdrop as Edward Cullen and Bella Swan in a new music video by POP ETC for “Speak Up,” their contribution to the “Breaking Dawn, Part 2” soundtrack.
In the movie, the song provides a backdrop to a meeting of the Cullens following their confrontation with the Volturi. They say goodbye to the witnesses and prepare to go about their lives.
The song also plays during Alice’s vision of Edweard, Bella, Renesmee and Jacob, played by Mackenzie Foy and Taylor Lautner, respectively.
POP ETC is an indie rock band that started out in Berkeley, Calif., and later relocated to Brooklyn, NY. They have been playing since 2005 for part of the time as The Music Benders. The band’s most recent studio album, its third is titled POP ETC. It was released this year
Band members include Chris Chu, Jon Chu and Julian Harmon. At various times, Tim Or, Joe Ferrell, Van Pierszalowski and Tom Peyton have also played with the band.
The band has had other songs featured in skateboarding movies, while the intro to their song, “Excuses,” is now the theme song for “The New Normal.”
But “Speak Up” from the “Breaking Dawn, Part 2” soundtrack is their highest profile tune to date.
In the video, the band starts out in an idyllic setting on a sailboat in calm open waters. The opening guitar refrain is joined by violins before Chris Chu comes in on lead vocals.
Kristen appears first, or at least Bella’s amber vampire eyes. The video shows some of Bella and Edward’s most romantic moments from the film.
