Kristen Stewart stepped into a new realm as a charity fundraiser at the 12-12-12 Sandy Relief Concert last night in Madison Square Garden. It was a new role for her and one she can perhaps build on, but her delivery lacked emotion or empathy.
The 22-year-old “Twilight” star, however, was given the unenviable task of reeling off a bunch of statistics in an effort to capture the scope of the damage caused by the storm along the Eastern Seaboard.
“The human mind is not equipped to put faces to numbers that large,” she said after reading a prepared script from a teleprompter about the $37 billion in damages caused by the storm. “Then again, Jersey strong is not something measured in numbers,” she added.
Although she looked fairly collected while she made her statement she flubbed in a couple of spots, including getting Jon Bon Jovi’s name wrong. She quickly corrected herself, however, and tossed to a video of the New Jersey rocker.
Stewart, who says she is being increasingly drawn to fashion, wore a neon yellow jump suit with culotte-style shorts and matching jacket. She may have seemed like an odd choice for the role, given she was born and raised in California. But she was also in New York for an “On The Road” screening.
Some gossip sites speculated that her appearance at the charity event was part of an image rebuilding process in the wake of her cheating scandal over the summer. Other sites made much ado about her jetting to New York without boyfriend Robert Pattinson.
But there was little new information to substantiate either report beyond speculation.
Stewart was warmly received by the crowd. Check out the video below and click here to follow TheImproper on Twitter for all of the latest celebrity updates.
