Justin Bieber may be a major league performer, but apparently he has a special connection to minor league hockey. He unveiled a new tattoo over the weekend of the team logo for the Canadian junior league Stratford Cullitons, which, he said, honors his grandfather.
“My grandfather always took me to the stratford culliton every friday night this is for u Grampa … My man @chenterios hooked it up,” he wrote in a caption of a photo showing off the tat.
Bieber posted the photo on Instagram Sunday night and suddenly thrust the team to national prominence. He’s also likely to renew complaints by native Americas, who object to the use of Indian images or names by sports teams.
Justin Bieber Tats Up With Indian Warrior
The team is offically known as “The Warriors.”
The use a profile of an Indian wearing a war bonnet headdress as their team logo. At least the Biebs picked a winner. The Cullitons have been regular-season champions 19 times and lost in the conference final last year.
Bieber is rapidly becoming an illustrated man. He also has tattoos on his legs, chest and arms. Don’t expect his parents to get mad. His dad, who left the family when Justin was a small child, has a dozen or more tattoos.
So far no protest yet from American Indian groups. Ontario where they team is based in Canada also has a large Indian population. The Biebs is still smarting from photos released last week that showed him smoking pot at a party only a day after a photographer was killed trying to photograph a traffic stop involving his $200,000 Ferrari.
