Whitney Houston’s Mom Blasts Music Mogul for Grammy Invite

whitneyhouston-cissyWhitney Houston’s mother, Cissy Houston, has blasted music mogul Clive Davis for inviting her to his annual pre-Grammy bash, calling the move “disgusting.” Whitney died a year ago on the day of the event.

Whitney, who had struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, was discovered dead in her hotel room bathtub hours before the big party.

“I got an invitation to the party — which is the most obscene thing,” the still grieving mom told Access Hollywood. “I guess maybe he just sent me a copy for remembrance sake.”

Whitney Houston Cause of Death: Drowning, Drugs

Davis discovered Houston while she was still a teen singing in the choir of her mother’s church in New Jersey. She soared to the very top of the music industry during the 1980s and starred in the romantic thriller “The Body Guard” with Kevin Costner in 1992.

But unbeknownst to her adoring fans, she was wracked by insecurities and fell into an ultimately fatal pattern of drug and alcohol abuse during the years she was married to singer Bobby Brown.

Whitney Houston Last Days Filled With Hope, Despair

She made numerous attempts to get clean and Davis helped her resurrect her career. The Grammy Awards show was slated to be her second coming-out party. She had just finished filming a new movie, “Sparkle,” with Jordin Sparks.

Her death was sudden and tragic, but in the end not too surprising. The funeral erupted in controversy after a photo was published of Houston lying in state in an open casket.

Cissy Houston said she will not be attending the Grammys this year. For the record, Davis told the television celebrity show that Pat Houston and Whitney’s brother, Gary Houston, will attend his pre-Grammy gala on Saturday (Feb. 9).

Davis really doesn’t deserve this disrespect. He bears no responsibility for Whitney’s death and was instrumental helping her deal with her drug problems during her career. For more Grammy updates, follow TheImproper on Twitter. Keep the Internet free!
