Robert Pattinson is secretive about his private life, but every so often a small slice slips out and becomes public. On this occasion, he was captured on video playing guitar while Andrea Meli, a singer/songwriter for band ME&U, belted out the tune.

As it turns out Andrea is the sister-in-law of Adam Shankman, 48, a dancer and film and music video director, who judged “So You Think You Can Dance, Season 3.”

He’s famously danced in videos by Janet Jackson and Paula Abdul and choreographed others.

In any event, the evening was apparently tipped in a Tweet by Shankman last September. “My sister in law jammed w/ Rob Pattinson guitar and Dermot Mulron[e]y on cello last night. Brilliant and stupifying 2 watch. Life is weird.”

The Tweet touched off some wild speculation from the usual trashy tabloid sites and some fan sites before fading in the news cycle.

But today (Feb. 21) a short video surfaced of the event Shankman described. It appeared on fan site hahajk.

The video was shot in a room that looks like an apartment. Rob appears to have just finished dinner with friends. A glass of white wine sits in front of him and a bowl of bread and plate of cheese are visible on the table.

Mulroney, an actor best known for “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” co-staring Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz, can be seen playing the cello in the background behind Meli. He’s wearing a tie.

The song, “Jolene,” was written and made popular by Dolly Parton and a slew of artists have covered it.

Meli went to West Bloomfield High School and lives in Hollywood, according to her Facebook page. Her band also has a Facebook page.

Rob strums the guitar earnestly while Meli sings. Check out the video below and be sure to follow TheImproper for the the latest Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart updates.
