The movie has a lot of potential to send up the ridiculous lives of celebrities like Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Megan Fox and any number of other targets in the burglary spree.
Watson is joined by Taissa Farmiga, and Leslie Mann and newcomers Israel Broussard and Katie Chang, who play the five burglars who hit celebrity homes through most of 2008 before they were arrested.
Watson said the film would explore celebrity obsession and what drives that. “When I read the script, I just felt passionately, that I wanted to explore the subject,” she told Vanity Fair.
Paris Hilton, a victim will make a cameo appearance in the film. Kirsten Dunst and Gavin Rossdale may also appear.
The teens in the movie, Nicki, Rebecca, Marc, Sam and Chloe , were partly motivated by their obsession with fame. They followed gossip websites to figure out when celebrities were traveling and hit the homes of their favorite stars.
In some cases, the burglars had celebrity connections themselves. Thief Courtney Ames is the step-daughter of boxer Randy Shields. The ringleader Rachel Lee came from a well-to-do family. The connection between them was Indian Hills High School, which they all attended.
The 56-second teaser opens with the group entering one of the homes. It cuts to a celebrity closet loaded with top fashions and jewelry before a seductive looking Watson appears in a dancing scene.
Police cracked the case after they received an anonymous tip on the identify of two ring members who robbed Lohan’s house. They used Facebook to find the other gang members.
The film is slated to be released in June. Check out the clip below and be sure to follow TheImproper on Twitter for the latest movie updates.
