McCarthy, 42, scored a breakout role in the 2011 film “Bridesmaids,” and a nomination for Best Supporting Actress Oscar.
Since then, she’s been a standout in comedy films like “This is 40,” and “Identity Thief,” with Jason Bateman. Although critics widely panned the latter, it soared at the box office.
She’ll next appear in cop comedy “The Heat,” with Sandra Bullock. It slated for release in June.
The last time she appeared on the show in 2011, with musical guest Lady Antebellum, she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. Before that she’d just won a Best Actress Emmy for “Mike & Molly.”
She’ll be appearing with musical guest Phoenix, an alternative rock band from Versailles, France, led by Thomas Mars, Deck d’Arcy, Christian Mazzalai and Laurent Brancowitz. The band releases is fifth studio album, Bankrupt!, on April 22.
McCarthy appears in the promo with SNL regular Taran Killam and spoofs on comedians who pay each other compliments, or sometimes don’t.
When Killam jokes that the show will be more fun than doing your taxes (April 15), McCarthy winces. “Ooo, don’t say that. My accountant is like the coolest guy in the world,” she replies.
“Yeah, I guess guys in visors are pretty cool,” Killam nods.
Yeah, you better believe it. Let’s show ’em,” McCarthy says.
