Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart still make a good team… on screen. They go to war with the Volturi in a new trailer for “Breaking Dawn, Part 2.” It’s heavy on violence.

The much anticipated film clip, aired for the first time tonight at the MTV Video Music Awards, contained a lot of material from previous trailers and teasers.

But there were some intriguing new glimpses as well. In the opening scene, Edward makes a confession to newly minted vampire and wife Bella. “I have a bad habit of underestimating you.

“Every obstacle we’ve faced. I’d think you couldn’t overcome it. But you just did,” Edward continues.

Indeed, Bella puts on a show of strength as she tests her new vampire super strength and brings down a wild cat during her first feeding hunt. She also leaps off a cliff that would kill an ordinary human. But Bella is no longer human.

“My time as a human is over,” she says in a voice over. “But I never felt more alive. I thought we’d be safe forever. But forever isn’t as long as I’d hoped.”

The clip covers Irina’s journey to mistakenly inform the Volturi that that Cullens have violated Volturi law by turning a child, Renesmee into a vampire. That touches off the vampire showdown.

There’s a new shot of Dakota Fanning as Jane and of Edward rallying the clans to come to the Cullen’s aid. And, the trailer closes with a little tag teaming by Edward and Bella.

Pattinson, as expected was on stage to unveil the clip with Taylor Lautner, Elizabeth Reaser, Peter Facinelli and Jackson Rathbone. Stewart was in Toronto promoting her new film “On the Road.”

If you were waiting for Kristen to suddenly walk on stage, you are not alone. But it was not to happen.

“Breaking Dawn Part 2” will be released Nov. 16. In the meantime, check out the trailer below. Follow TheImproper on Twitter here for more Twilight updates.
