Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy were one of the summer’s hottest romances, but reality finally caught up with the unlikely couple. With the Fall, Swift, 22, got back to business and Conor,18, went back to high school. C’est la vie.
Whether they’ve actually broken up or just decided to put their relationship on a hiatus is an unanswered question.
But a friend of Swift’s has reportedly told USWeekly that they definitely cooled. “They quietly parted ways a while ago. It was just a distance thing. No hard feelings. They’re fine,” the source said.
Swift, who has a super work ethic, has gone into overdrive to promote her new album and will likely go on tour for an extended period. Conor was shuffled off to his private boarding school for the fall semester. The two haven’t seen each other in a month, according to the report.
The country queen’s latest album Red was released Oct. 22 and looks like it could be her biggest yet. It’s full of songs inspired by her breakups. Some have been attributed to ex-boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal.
Swift and Kennedy, the son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. began dating in July. Only two months earlier, Conor’s mother Mary Richardson Kennedy committed suicide at the family home, which has just been sold.
If the past is any guide, the relationship was just about played anyway. Swift has rarely stayed with one boyfriend for longer than three months. She’s also previously dated Taylor Lautner, Cory Monteith and John Mayer.
Swift’s relations with Kennedy clan members were mixed. Caroline Kennedy, daughter of former President John. F. Kennedy, and Maria Shriver Schwarzenegger, whose mother was Eunice Kennedy Shriver, reportedly opposed the relationship.
Victoria Gifford Kennedy, who was married to the late Michael Kennedy, was miffed at Swift for showing up at her daughter’s wedding uninvited, although daughter Kyle welcomed her.
