Taylor Swift is getting ready to hit the road on tour and showed last night on “Dancing with the Stars” that her act is fine-tuned and ready to go. She sang a rousing rendition of her hit song “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”
Swift’s new album Red was released on Oct. 22 and is storming the charts. Her album sold more than 1 million copies in its first week, according to Nielsen Soundscan, making it the best selling album in a decade.
Her third album, Speak Now, sold just over 1 million copies when it was released in 2010.
The 22-year-old singer/songwriter reportedly wrote her DWTS song following her breakup with actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The two dated for about two months at the end of last year, despite their age difference. He’s 31. After breaking up, they briefly reunited before calling it quits for good.
Swift moved on to date Conor Kennedy, the 18-year-old son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., in a controversial romance that caused a rift in the expansive Kennedy clan. But a week ago, the two broke up. Maria Shriver Schwarzenegger and Caroline Kennedy were reportedly opposed to the union.
“His friends have said it’s over,” a source told People. “I have the feeling she ended it.” Conor is still in high school at the tony Deerfield Academy.
Whether the relationship will provide fodder for songs remains to be seen. Taylor has been unabashed about writing songs based on her previous relationships, which also include stints with Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner and John Mayer.
Swift looked stellar with a girlish ponytail, black high-waist shorts and a red polka dot blouse, a red bow tie and shocking red lipstick.
