The Wanted, that would be Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker and Nathan Sykes are turning out to be the bad boys of boy bands. Or they’re still a little naive.
They pulled back the curtain on Britney Spears’ diva ways after a band mate and his manager were caught in the hallway by Spears’ security, who probably thought they were roadies or, you know, just average people.
In any event, the kids were on New York radio station Fresh 102 and Siva explained what happened.
“I was in the hallway with me tour manager. Basically we were looking with a laptop, trying to get wifi… facing the middle of the hallway. [Britney’s] bouncers came down with her and told us to face the wall,” he said.
“As Miss Spears is walking through,” added Tom. “We’re like come on!”
Siva chimed in, “We turned around, and I faced a wall for about 10 seconds until she got really far away.”
It was probably a case of mistaken identity. The “bouncers” probably didn’t know they part of the club, because Jay said Britney was nice to them when she was introduced.
“But honestly when we actually met her person-to-person, she was so down to earth. You can tell she’s a total southern girl.
Spears sounds a lot like Katy Perry, who was called out last year for similar Diva behavior, including scalping fans on tickets.
The lads had nice words for teen pop star Justin Bieber. They talked about kidding around with him, and how Bieber gave Silva a friendly punch in the groin.
“He punched Siva in the balls.” Jay laughed.
“He did,” shot back Silva in mock indignation. “What are you laughing for?”
The Wanted also got into a widely publicized row with “The Voice” judge Christina Aguilera after they felt she treated them shabbily on the show. Siva called her a bit*h.
