UK Comedian Russell Brand appears to have been hit by a bad case of divorce remorse. He reportedly has reached out to ex-wife Katy Perry in an effort to reconcile, according to reports out of the UK. Will she take him back?

Perry, 27, was most recently spotted in the arms of Robert Ackroyd, guitarist with the band Florence + the Machine. The two were photographed getting cozy at the Coachella Music Festival.

The photos and reports of Perry’s new love interest allegedly sent Brand into a jealous funk. He fired off a long email admitting that he “gave up” on the marriage too soon, according to the UK’s Grazia magazine.

“Word has it Russell was ‘seething with jealousy’ when he saw pictures of her with Rob. He apparently feels he gave up on their relationship too easily,” a source told the magazine.

“It’s fair to say that Russell only wishes Katy happiness, but perhaps he should have realized just how special his wife was when he was married to her rather than five months later,” the source added.

The marriage lasted 14 months with Brand filing for divorce last December, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Perry reportedly was blindsided by the filing and was still hoping to patch things up.

At the time, Perry was on tour and the couple reportedly spent little time together in the early months of their marriage. But tabloids speculated that lifestyle differences ultimately drove them apart.

Katy apparently enjoyed going out with friends and attending events, while Brand, a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, wanted to stay out of the limelight.

“Dear God make me a bird, so I can fly far far far away from here,” Perry tweeted yesterday (May 7). Some reports speculate it was related to these new developments in her life.

Brand has been spotted with several women since the split.
