Although Stewart is making joint appearances and identical stops with Charlize Theron to promote their movie “Snow White and the Huntsman,” they each have their own private jet.
The confusion occurred when Stewart arrived at the airport and started climbing aboard Theron’s jet. She was advised as she neared the entrance that she had the wrong plane, and quickly scrambled over to her own.
Both were catching separate private jets to fly to London for another joint appearance.
The entire incident was photographed by paparazzi. Aside from Stewart’s ditziness, the episode raised a question why each star needs their own personal jet, if they are going to the same locations for the same events.
The planes in question cost anywhere from $2,500 to $5,000 an hour to operate, including the fuel they consume. Undoubtedly, the studio is paying for transportation as part of its marketing and promotion budget.
Given their hectic schedule–the movie opens June 1–a private jet may be justified. But two?
For Stewart, especially, who claims to be socially conscious, it seems like an extravagance that puts a huge burden on the environment, not to mention hypocritical. Her carbon footprint must be huge.
Probably the same can be said for the stars’ egos.
