Rihanna has released almost 200 behind-the-scenes photos showing how she generated the sexual power for her “Where Have You Been?” video. The singer looks beyond hot, but it took a lot of work.
The photos show every facet of the production that resulted in the highly stylized 4:14 video, which includes sultry scenes of the singer and an over-the-top dance number.
“Because my schedule has always been so busy, it never allowed for us to spend time rehearsing and making up dance moves,” she said recently.
“I was never going to shoot this video if I couldn’t do choreography. Because it would be pretty pointless. It would be disappointing,” she added.
The video seems to borrow inspiration from “Pirates of the Caribbean.” A distinctive Afro-Caribbean style marks Rihanna’s sultry topless scenes and hot-to-trot dance segments.
The 24-year-old singer posted 189 photos showing almost every aspect of the elaborate production, including her alligator-like appearance in a swamp scene. The photos show makeup artists applying gator scales to her breasts.
Rihanna was topless during several of the makeup sessions and chose to cover her private parts with her arms.
“Where Have You Been?” is the fifth single from her album Talk That Talk. Produced by DJ Calvin Harris and Dr Luke, it includes a line from Johnny Cash’s song “I’ve Been Everywhere,” written by Geoff Mack in 1959 and performed by Cash in 1996.
