Pudsey the adorable dog showed off his talent on the UK’s “Britain’s Got Talent, and walked off with the $800,000 first prize for his equally adorable trainer Ashleigh Butler, a 17-year-old teen.
Talented dogs can make millions of dollars from movie appearances, television commercials and merchandise. Pudsey reportedly has offers rolling in non-stop since winning the talent competition yesterday (May 12).
By way of contrast, Moose, the Jack Russell terrier who starred on the sit-come “Fraiser” earned more than $2.5 million for the work.
The show, like its American equivalent, is a come-one, come-all talent competition to find the best acts in the nation whether they are singers, high-wire acts or break dancers. The dog beat opera singers Jonathan and Charlotte in the semi-final.
Adorable Pudsey, who is six years old (42 in dog years) was in a class all his own. Before the final Ashleigh promised, “We’ve got tricks up our sleeve that you’ve never seen a dog on BGT do.”
And she was right. Pudsey performed flawlessly in sync with his trainer’s every step. For the record, the dog is a cross between a border collie, bichon frise and Chinese crested, according to London’s Sun newspaper.
